Congratulations to these wonderful students for meeting their AR goal for the 1st and 2nd nine weeks. I am so proud of you all!!!!!! For those who didn't meet your goals, keep up the good work and READ, READ, READ! I know you can do it!
It's that time of year that we all think about all the things we are thankful for. I am so thankful for all my wonderful students. Each and everyone of you are so special to me. I am so happy that we were able to celebrate together. A special thank you to Ms. Boza and her class for joining us!!! We had such a great time in our "Class Thanksgiving Feast". The students ate a delicious turkey sandwich from Publix, chips, pumpkin spiced muffins topped with whipped cream and a juice. All of our bellies were full and our hearts were too. Punctuation is so important! The students had a wonderful time practicing how to use correct punctuation while incorporating skittles. They were given a opinion topic to write about and then for every correct punctuation mark used, they earned a skittle. Incredible to see how motivated these students were to use periods, commas, quotation marks, question marks and so much more. This is an activity that we are going to have to repeat soon. We are all little scientist! The students had such a great time completing our 3 class science projects for the school science fair. If you would like to take a closer look, come join us on December 3. The school will be having its annual "Math & Science Night".
In social studies we learned about the 7 continents and the 4 major oceans. Students made their own model globe using a balloon. We learned a little song that helped us remember the 7 names of the continents. Continents, Continents
Do you know your continents? North, south, east, west, all around the world Asia, Africa, North and South America Australia, Antarctica and Europe too! During the month of October our class had a great time learning about the different cultures we all share. The students took part in a luncheon where they were able to taste several different foods from all around the world. They also had the opportunity to come to school dressed in clothes that represent a country. What a great experience! In Science we have been learning about the different states of matter in chapters 10-11; solids, liquids and gases. We conducted a science experiment that the students had to guess what would happened to vinegar and baking soda when mixed together. The students were all very amazed at the chemical reaction that occurred when these two things were combined. |
